SUSE 10.0 EVAL DVD 支持MP3吗？
如题：SUSE官方提供下载的SUSE LINUX 10.0 EVAL DVD 支持MP3吗？ 现在还有不支持MP3的发行版吗？ [QUOTE=yangqs]现在还有不支持MP3的发行版吗？[/QUOTE]这位仁兄是山里出来的？？SUSE LINUX 9.3就不支持！ 不支持MP3的LINUX发行版多了：Fedora Core 1/2/3/4、SUSE LINUX 9.3、SUSE LINUX 10.0 OSS版…… 没带RealPlayer吗？ 为什么偶的9.3就支持MP3呢... 我觉得各位都没有理解我提问的意思：我想问的是，SUSE LINUX 10.0是否包含了完整的MP3解码、编码插件？Realplayer当然不算！

If SUSE continues down this path, they are screwing up in a big way. Red Hat/Fedora also does this - leaves MP3 support out of the install - but you can re-enable MP3 support by installing a single RPM. SUSE, however, according to a review of the forthcoming 9.3 release, has actually compiled GStreamer, Arts, & the KDE Multimedia packages WITHOUT SUPPORT FOR MP3. That means it’s not just a matter of installing a single RPM & getting MP3 support back, oh no. Instead, you have to recompile all of those multimedia packages, which is a total PITA and, frankly, a load of bull. Oh … and the reviewer actually did the recompiles, and then guess what? An update broke ‘em all again! Joy!
OK, there is one package that does support MP3 playback: Real player. Wheeeeee! Now, I’m quite thrilled that the Real player isn’t the stinking pile of poo that it used to be, but c’mon. It’s no Amarok. Or Juk. Or XMMS. Or Rhythmbox. Ridiculous. Who the heck wants to use the Real player to manage all of their digital music?
And btw, I say all this as a guy deeply committed to OGG. I’ve got 10s of 1000s of digital music files, and the majority are in OGG format. But I still have some in MP3, and most people I know still use MP3 (mostly ‘cause they don’t know about OGG, and ‘cause Apple won’t support OGG in the freakin’ iPod … grrrrrr). So a failure to support MP3 like this is just suicidal. Can you imagine the reviews that SUSE is gonna get because of this bone-headed move?
It’s really too bad, because the rest of the review is quite positive. My wife uses SUSE 9.2 (’cause I put it on her laptop), and I’ve been impressed overall with it’s quality and slickness (& so has she, btw). Now, granted, you really can’t use APT with SUSE - yes, I know it’s available from 3rd parties, but EVERY SINGLE TIME IN TWO YEARS that I’ve used it, it eventually breaks the system to the point of requiring a re-install - which means that you must stick to Novell’s release cycle of patches and fixes. Translation: 9.2 doesn’t come with KDE 3.4, so forget about installing KDE 3.4 until Novell releases 9.3. Hey, I know you’re supposed to be able to upgrade using 3rd party packages, but IT DOESN’T WORK WITH SUSE. Sorry, but that’s my experience. In other words, SUSE is perfect for businesses or users who don’t need the latest ‘n greatest. That’s not a bad thing at all. It’s just something potential users need to know.
And now there’s something else that users - & potential users - need to know: apparently, SUSE 9.3 DOESN’T SUPPORT MP3 PLAYBACK. Blecccch. 请问各位 我用的 suse10 x86－64 无法放mp3 请问要下什么解码器文件？？ 还有 realplayer 10 也无法安装 提示 找不到realplayer 文件 请高手解答。 suse 10.0 下的amarok 好像直接支持MP3播放的，我试过 我也试了amarok 可是无法播放 实践证明，64位的amarok是放不了mp3的，32位可以，不用争，我全用过。那怎样才能让64位的amarok放mp3呢？ mp3已经可以播放了。realplayer也已经好用了。 ：） 唉，本来想换64位的，不过现在看来问题多多 64位的不是不能播放MP3，而是不能播放带中文名字或中文ID的MP3， 我在好多论坛里发了贴子，但没有一个人加贴 好了好了。这个帖子我当菜鸟的时候就见过。现在虽然还是菜鸟，但是毕竟经历过suse10.0(32/64)、gentoo。
以amarok为例，32位的直接就可以了。64位的，装上packman的libxine1后，xine也行了，从而amarok也行了。
我也要反省，为什么这么武断的话也说。 不能放MP3等媒体文件是出于版权方面的考虑，洋鬼子的发行版在这方面都比较注意，还是国产的胆子大，基本不用考虑版权问题，什么能放装什么。
