Mozilla周二推出一个实验性的浏览器插件（plug-in），可经由语言来连结Web，协助使用者更轻松简便地执行常见Web任务。

        Ubiquity是由苹果麦金塔先驱 Jef Raskin 儿子 Aza Raski 所创建，这是一个指令列（command-line）介面，可让使用者使用一般语言来操控Web作业，比如地图、翻译、逛街，或从维基百科、Yelp、Twitter抽出资料等。根据Mozilla周二公布在网站上的说法，这套免费的Firefox插件可利用既有开放的Web API来建立“使用者产生的混搭程式（user-generated mashups）“。换言之，不只是Web开发人员，连一般人都可针对Web来重新排列组合，创造出自己所需的东西。

Mozilla认为目前存在的挑战在于：

Mashups help in some cases but they are static, require Web development skills, and are largely site-centric rather than user-centric.

It's even worse on mobile devices, where limited capability and fidelity makes this onerous or nearly impossible.

Most people do not have an easy way to manage the vast resources of the Web to simplify their task at hand. For the most part they are left trundling between web sites, performing common tasks resulting in frustration and wasted time.

Ubiquity是衍生自Firefox的智慧网址列（smart bar）。Ubiquity不会取代智慧网址列，不过若在Windows下键入（Ctrl-Space）或者麦金塔下键入（Command-Space），就会跳出一行指令列。

Mozilla实验室释出适用所有平台的Ubiquity原型、教学说明，还有概念解说。

先前曾将Firefox引进行动平台的Mozilla实验室工程师Raskin建立了这个Ubiquity平台概念。

“多数人都没有一套简单的方式来管理Web上如此庞大的资料，简化手边的工作，”Raskin在部落格中表示，“Ubiquity介面的目标是要让使用者可告诉浏览器[经由键盘输入、语音或使用语言]该作什麽事情。”

Mozilla表示，这类mashup就是用户可自行建立的东西。
