如上图所示，Ubuntu 正在讨论全局菜单也就是 AppMenu 将以垂直的方式放置在 Ubuntu 11.04 版本的桌面上，当然最终是否出现还取决于 Ubuntu 团队的讨论结果。

Jorge Castro @ AskUbuntu 称目前还不能确定什么时候，但可以确定 Ubuntu 11.04 将会使用这个 AppMenu：

Yes, the Desktop version of Unity will use the global menu by default. There might be some added intelligence for multi-monitor setups, but I'm not sure and there has been no design as yet.

当然，如果你不喜欢这东西，可以通过以下命令干掉这个菜单：

udo apt-get remove indicator-appmenu appmenu-gtk
